SeoSeo Galbi in Hongdae

Hi my friends.
Long time no mention about good restaurant in Korea.
Let me introduce the best Galbi place I have been to.

※ What is Galbi?

Kalbi or galbi generally refers to a variety of gui or grilled dishes in Korean cuisine that is made with marinated beef (or pork) short ribs in a ganjang-based sauce (Korean soy sauce). In the Korean language, galbi literally means "rib" and can often indicate uncooked ribs. In addition, the dish's full name is galbi gui, although "gui" (grilling) is commonly omitted to refer to it.
Galbi is generally made with beef ribs, and it may be called "sogalbi" (소갈비) or "soegalbi" (쇠갈비). Prefix "so" or "soe" (beef) is often omitted. It is also called bulgalbi when grilled over fire. As the literal meaning is "rib", the galbi dish can also be made with pork ribs or chicken. In such cases, the dish is called "dwaeji galbi" (돼지갈비) or "dak galbi" (닭갈비) to emphasize the main ingredient.
It is listed at number 41 on World's 50 most delicious foods readers' poll complied by CNN Go in 2011.
 (From wikipedia)

Here is  SeoSeo Galbi(Which means Galbi with Standing pose)

People are waiting in line even though it was around 4PM.
I heard that early bird can enter this restaurant. Otherwise, there is no more meats.
They just serve limited amount per day.
Once it is finished, store will be closed no matter waiting line is so long.

People were really eating Galbi with standing!
And I were, too.
I felt like doing camping or so.

Table settings were very simple but strong and unforgettable tastes!
Sauce tasted salty and little bit spicy.

Ohhhhhhhhhh!
Will you get a bite at this? :)

I can say surely this is must-go-place.

(Study Korean) About The Words only Native Korean know.

Study Korean:: About The Words only Native Korean know

Hi Hi You make me high~

For today, I brought stuff to study Korean.
You probably have been heard this word if you have been to Korea more than 1 year. However, it is unusual for complete foreigners.
This word is like slang and abbreviation which means for the young generation.
The meaning?
It means Fried Chicken and Beer!

▲Korean style of Chicken (Half Fried and Half seasoned)

Yes, right.

치맥 (CHI-MAEK) (K sounds weakly)
Fried Chicken is called as 치킨(Chicken) in Korean and Beer as Maekju.
So, you can just call Chicken and beer as Chimaek.
Actually, these two food have a good marital compatibility.
(Not medically though.:-p)

★ Usage ★

A : 치맥하러 갈까?
(Shall we go for Chimaek?)

B : 치맥 좋지~ 하지만 난 맥주보다 소맥이 당겨
(I'd love it but would love to have Somaek* more than beer)

*소맥(Somaek): Soju and Beer

Haha, Remember then when you come to Korea one day and meet Korean friends,
you should try!

Having Mexican food in Seoul was quite memorable.

Hi, hi, hi !  My friends! :D

Today is Monday which is my least favorite day. :(
Did you have a good weekend?
I went to Mexican Restaurant on Friday.
That was actually to grab a bite, however,
we finally gorged to the bursting-point.

1. Mexican BULLDOG

If you love drinking, I would recommend try this indeed!

2. Fajita (beef)

Medium=rare grilled beef and vegetables with Tortilla.
I have ever tried this kind of food last time,
this was the best I've ever experienced! :D

3. Crime Enchilladas

This was my favorite. It is similar as Cream sauce Omerice in Korea.
It came with Fried rice with vegetables, chickens covered with eggs, cream sauce.

4. chimichanga

It tastes similar with Enchilladas but has a lot of cheese in it.

5. Fried potatoes with cheese

Was normal tastes! :D

The name of restaurant was Julio which means July in Spanish,
it is located in Gangnam station. It also has several branches in Seoul.
It was quite peculiar and exciting experiences
to try mexican food at the center of the Seoul.

A Stream in the heart of the City "Cheonggyecheon"

A Stream in the heart of the City "Cheonggyecheon(Stream)"

Many tour guide book usually says that
Cheong-gye-cheon is a place tourist MUST visit.
Actually, there is a certain reason for that.

A stream flows in the heart of Seoul, the biggest city.
This was completely restored in 2005
to seek balanced development between regions.

Second, you get wonderful views of city lights by night.

Third, there usually are musical performance, big culture event

Next, the accessibility to public transport vehicles is the one. The close subway station is 5 - Gwanghwamoon(Line no.5), Jonggak(no.1), Jongro3ga(no.1,3,5), Euljiroipgu(no.2), Cityhall(no.2).

Last, there are a lot of things to do after taking a look at Cheonggyecheon(Stream)

- eating Korean BBQ or Chicken with beer in Jongro area,
look around Insadong where you can see Korean traditional things,
having a cup of coffee in SamcheongDong Cafe Street,
seeing Topgol Park, Nagwon Arcade(Shopping Mall) and so on!

There are not so many people outside due to the freezing weather these days,
so I would recommend
to eat tasty food and walk along a stream and see night view!

My Christmas Story

Good morning, my friends!
Did you enjoy Christmas holiday
I guess those who stay in America or Europe continent are
spending Christmas time at this moment, right?

I also had such a nice time by having a party in a small hotel room.
And now, I am going to tell you about my new wine experience.

Have you ever seen these wine?
It was first time for me.
The shape of bottle is wonderful, isn't it?
It has a lovely flavor light but sweet.
So, it is going to go with appetizer!(Just my opinion)

We enjoyed this wine with slices of raw fish,
Chinese Cabbage Wraps with Pork, snacks.

The food was quite nice, what is more,
it was snowing-white Christmas!

And to conclude,
my Christmas was not tremendous but silent and strong.

Could you tell me about what you did on Christmas?

What kind of Christmas culture does your country have?

Happy Early Christmas!

Every country in this world has different Christmas cultures each.

In Korean's case,
especially for the young, Christmas is considered as the day for a couple.
I don't know from where this recognition is from and
I mind this point of view a bit.
The only reason for that is I am a single. LOL
Anyways, we, I mean a couple, usually go for a dinner in good mood,
have a drink, buy a cake for silent party with a partner.
And if we don't have a partner,
we consider that is so sad situation.  (Not always, though)
So, just drink. :-p

It was an astonishing fact
when I realized that the other countries spend Christmas time with different way.
In Canada (where I have been to in 2009),
people took spending time their family for granted.
Like the new years day in Korea.
They exchanged a lot of gift with family and relative,
eat lots of foods, had a big party.
That was like festival.

I am very curious the Christmas culture all over the world.
How is your country?
What kind of Christmas culture does your country have?

We usually eat Pork Trotters with vegetables!

In addition,
This restaurant served Dumpling soup together.

I really enjoyed this food and time with my co-workers.

Sushi place Review in Seoul

Hi, My friends!
Sushi is one of the most famous Asian food.
Me and my colleagues went for sushi yesterday near our work place.

A good points of the restaurant we went are
a variety of selection and reasonable price.
Less than 2$ for one dish
such as flatfish, eel, salmon, barbecue sushi was applied!
The taste was quite good.
I can't say the store is for high end customers,
however, average consume (like me)r for sure.
